Another free amigurumi crochet pattern this week, and this time it’s a donkey! It’s very similar to one of my previous patterns the unicorn amigurumi. It has just a few changes to the mane and tail, uses different colours and doesn’t have a horn. However, just like the unicorn and most of my other amigurumi patterns it stands at just 4 inches tall. Being so small means this little project is quick and easy to complete!

To make your donkey you’re going to need some DK yarn in the colours of black and grey as well as a 3.5mm crochet hook. You can of course use any weight yarn and the appropriate hook size but changing these will impact the size of your completed donkey. As always, I’ve used The Craft Factory Toy Eyes Solid Black – 9mm for the eyes and of course I highly recommend you do the same but you may use some black yarn to embroider on some eyes if you prefer.

If you would like an ad-free, printable version of this pattern you can buy the PDF in our Shop or on Ravelry

Tail

Round 1: In grey 6 sc in magic ring

sc for next 6 rounds. Fasten off.

Using a yarn needle thread strands of black yarn through the end of the tail and trim them short.

Use a yarn needle to sew all the parts together. I would recommend starting with the head, add the eyes, then sew on the ears. Starting between the ears and continuing down the back of the head you need to add the mane, the method I recommend can be found in this video. Then sew the legs, tail and head onto the body.
